In Gedenken an eine der größten Tenorstimmen seiner Zeit würdigt Decca Luciano Pavarotti anlässlich seines zehnten Todestages am 06.09.2017 mit einem Doppelalbum.

Im ersten Teil glänzt Pavarotti in seinen Paraderollen aus Verdis Opernklassikern sowie Verismo Arien wie "Vesti la giubba" aus Leoncavallos "Pagliacci" und natürlich dem unvergesslichen "Nessun dorma", die herzzereißende Arie des Prinzen Kalaf aus Puccinis "Turandot".

Daneben lernt der Hörer Pavarotti als Erzähler neapolitanischer- und anderer traditioneller italienischer Lieder kennen. Ob Funiculì, funiculà, O' sole mio oder Turno Surriento, auch hier verleiht Pavarotti mit einzigartem Charme den Liedern eine Aura von Lebensfreude und Esprit.

Insgesamt drei Stunden ausgewählter Darbietungen, die von Kritikern und vom breiten Publikum gleichermaßen gefeiert wurden, geben hier einen hervorragenden Einblick über das Lebenswerk eines Künstlers, dessen Format vielleicht niemals wieder erreicht werden wird.
