Contributing Chapter Authors:

Dr. Cagri Ayranci obtained his BSc and MSc from the University of Ottawa with a focus on the instrumentation of concrete structures. He earned his PhD at the University of Alberta, during which he focused on 2D braided composites. He is currently an assistant professor and the director of the multifunctional-fibrous-composites laboratory.

Benjamin Cheung is a PhD student at the University of Alberta in Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on the elastic modeling of braided composites, with experience in braid manufacture and mechanical testing.

Alexander Hunt is an MSc student in mechanical engineering working on developing a quality control image processing system for manufacturing braided textiles.

Marcus Ivey has an MSc in mechanical engineering and a BSc in materials engineering. He has research experience in the areas of polymers and polymer-composite materials, with a focus on characterization and testing.

Garrett Melenka is a PhD candidate at the University of Alberta in Mechanical Engineering. Garrett's research focus is on the design, manufacture and evaluation of tubular braided composites.

Dr. Michael Munro is Professor Emeriti of Mechanical Engineering at University of Ottawa. His expertise is in composite material design and testing, focusing on braided and filament wound composites.

Dr. Frank Ko is the Director of the Advanced Fibrous Materials Laboratory and Canada Research Chair (Tier1) Professor of Advanced Fibrous Materials in the Department of Materials Engineering at the University of British Columbia. He has co-authored four books, 33 book chapters, and presented/ published over 450 papers in the engineering design of fibrous structures for medical, industrial and composite applications

Dr. Christopher Pastore, Ph.D. is Professor of Transdisciplinary Studies at Philadelphia University. He is an award winning, internationally recognized expert in the field of textiles and textile composites. His research has been used in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, medical, architectural and energy.

Dr. J.H. (Johan) van Ravenhorst is a self-employed professional offering circular braiding process simulation and -consultancy. Previously he modeled composite production processes at the University of Twente. Interests include programming, renewable energy technologies and energy storage.

Dr. Remko Akkerman, is Professor and Research Director of the Thermoplastic Composites Research Center, University of Twente.

Handbook of Advances in Braided Composite Materials: Theory, Production, Testing and Applications focuses on the fundamentals of these materials and their associated technology. It provides a one-stop resource that outlines all the significant issues about structural braiding, providing readers with the means by which to produce, test, and design braided composite material structures. It documents the latest research findings into these advanced materials and provides new ideas to encourage greater use of the technology.
