He liked the great, gray, English Gothic buildings, with their steep, red roofs and their plain, strong outlines, and he liked what he saw through the windows. Most of all, he liked the looks of the fellows all about him. He liked everything and everybody on the campus, with the single exception of Freddy Ball, whom he detested. As Freddy was his roommate, he could not ignore the obtrusive fact that he existed.
