There is a substantial academic literature on Gramsci now including an extensive literature in the English language. The most recent important additions to this literature include: Crehan, K. (2002) Gramsci, Culture and Athropology; Hill, D.J. (2007) Hegemony and Education: Gramsci, Post-Marxism and Education Revisited; Ives, P. (2004) Language and Hegemony in Gramsci; Morton, A. (2007) Unravelling Gramsci: Hegemony and Passive Revolution in the Global economy; Saccarelli, E. (2009) Gramsci and Trotsky in the Shadow of Stalinism; Thomas, P. (2009) The Gramscian Moment: Philosophy, Hegemony and Marxism. Much of this academic scholarship is however rather specialised and narrowly focused and given this volume's wider scope and its target readership it would not be directly competing with this work. Its main competition would come rather from introductions to Gramsci's political thought - especially the more in-depth among them - and the most recent edited volumes that aim to relate his thought to contemporary politics and political theory.
