David Albahari, geb. am 15.3 1948 in Pec, Jugoslawien, studierte englische Literatur und Sprache an der Universität von Belgrad. Er lebt seit 1994 in Calgary, Kanada und arbeitet als Schriftsteller und Übersetzter von bekannten amerikanischen, britischen und australischen Autoren. Weltweit wurden Albaharis Werke in viele verschieden Sprachen übersetzt, unter anderem ins Französische, Griechische, Polnische, Ungarische, Russische und Italienische. 2006 bekamen er und seine Übersetzer für ihr Werk den Preis Brücke Berlin verliehen.
