Anschließend unterrichtete er als Hilfslehrer an einer Berufsschule in Cambridge, bis ihm der Erfolg seiner Bücher die Freiheit schenkte, mit Frau und drei Töchtern als Schriftsteller zu leben. Tom Sharpe verstarb 2013.
