Football supporters, over the years, have garnered a pretty poor reputation, often regarded as anti-social yobs, or foul-mouthed hoodlums - and at times that reputation has been well deserved. Some supporters though, fare worse than others, and fans of Rangers Football Club seem to be particularly vilified, very often castigated en masse as nothing more than Neanderthal, knuckle-dragging, bigoted thugs. Well, I'm a Rangers fan and I'm none of the above! And neither, for that matter, are any of my friends or associates. It's true that we have a few rogues amongst our support, but show me a football club that doesn't! By and large Rangers' fans are good, honest, hard working people who love their team, nothing more and nothing less. We enjoy our own personal achievements, triumphs and relationships, just as we suffer pain, tragedy and disappointment - normal people, living normal lifes. In the following pages, I hope to show how I've grown as a person, and grown as football fan - the two sides of my life forever intertwining. I've tried, to the best of my ability, to ensure all the facts and figures quoted here are correct; everything else though comes from my own memory. My recollections may differ from others, but that's the beauty of football. Fifty thousand people can go to a game and all of them will see an incident differently. Was it a penalty? Was it a dive? Their opinion, of course, is often dependant on the colour of scarf being worn.My scarf is red, white and blue, and this is my story - my journey with the 'Gers.
