The third fascicle of the first part of volume 3 of Athanasius’ Works continues the publication of documents relating to the history of the Arian conflict, carrying on the work started by Hans-Georg Opitz in 1934 and 1935.
The fascicle contains inter alia the texts from the Synods of Antioch 326/27, Jerusalem 335, Rome and Antioch 338-341 and the Ekthesis makrostichos; it is accompanied by a detailed introduction on the chronology of the beginnings of the Arian heresy, a German translation of the documents already published, and a bibliography and reference index.

Athanasius Werke have been published by Walter de Gruyter since 1934. Critical editions of the works of Athanasius of Alexandria (d. 373) are presented in three volumes with separate fascicles.
