Andreas Holzem is a church historian at the University of Tübingen. He researches religion in the village, war and peace, hunger and crises, and the problems of confession and modernity.

Christianity did not reach the modern age by straight paths, but by crooked ones: For two centuries after the Reformation, Catholics and Protestants fought over the truth of their religion.
