Beschreibung:

Dal Negro, AndreaAndrea Dal Negro, born in 1990 in Italy, studied architecture at the Technical University of Innsbruck and at the Technology University of Eindhoven. His works are mainly based on architectural innovations with focus on sustainability. He is fully convinced that architecture can bring tangible benefits to the environment.
In recent decades many areas of the world have been affected by eutrophication, a phenomenon that leads to an overgrowth of algae on the water surface, causing severe environmental imbalance. The project provides an innovative solution to the problem, merging architecture and biotechnology in a sustainable way. It is in this context that, on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra, the Bio Architecture Center is imagined: a complex of buildings that takes inspiration from the shape, color and movement of microalgae. This center, which has as main goals to filter the lake water and produce biological products, creates a living body that fascinates and surrounds the visitor completely.
