Fritz Schwegler (1935-2014) war Bildhauer, Dichter, Maler und Musiker und von 1972 bis 2001 Professor an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Hier prägte er als Lehrer und Persönlichkeit Künstler wie Katharina Fritsch, Thomas Huber, Martin Honert oder Gregor Schneider. Er selbst gehörte zu den Künstlern der legendären, von Harald Szeemann kuratierten documenta 5, blieb aber trotz einer aktiven Ausstellungstätigkeit ein Geheimtipp. Die vorliegende Monografie ermöglicht endlich einen fundierten Einblick in Schweglers umfangreiches, vielseitiges Werk, das seit den 1960er-Jahren die Grenzen der Bildhauerei neu definierte und die Wende hin zum Konzept vollzog.
