It is highly esteemed in Latin America and Asia, particularly in China, India and Thailand. Among the different seed spices coriander occupies a lion share portion about more than 50% of the area in India. India earned a tune of about 82.66 and 64.10 crores by exporting this spice during 2004-05 and 2005-06 respectively. Apart from whole coriander seed India also earn an appreciable amount by exporting coriander powder.
