Beschreibung:

Seyed Javad Miri is a professor of sociology at the institute of humanities and cultural studies (IHCS) in Iran. He works mainly on social theory, religious thought and philosophy. Among his recent works we can mention Reflections on The Social Thought of Allama M. T. Jafari.
Humanity at large has arrived at a critical point in its destiny. The consensus of stupidity has reached its zenith in our time to a grandiose proportion in all fields of human praxis. To be or not to be is not anymore an issue for contemporary human person as s/he has lost touch with the wonderful possibilities. The issue at hand for contemporary self is how to get by and ask for what's next. In other words, our system of societal organization has turned so alienated from lofty concepts of good, beauty, just and truth that realities explained by Jung or Maslow such as individuation or Peak- Experiences seem so foreign and inaccessible to us because we have become so deeply accustomed to inauthentic lifestyles which are devoid of ultimate realities. I believe that sociology is a kind of theology with a democratic orientation. While theology is focused on what God envisions about the destiny of humanity, sociology, on the other hand, it is the reasoning of human being on what the destiny could provide for her/him in a world that is really unknown and unbeknown to this thrown-away Dasein.
