Murtala Mohammed Alamai is an Assistant Chief Instructor with Department of Leisure &Tourism Management Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Nigeria with a Master of Science(MSc) in Tourism Marketing and Management (2016) Bournemouth University UK.And research interests in online Branding ,personality of destinations, terrorism & Culture in tourism.
Nowadays, tourism is a pretext of socialization, in the interior of a social group, or between groups, where social trends and dramatic historical events do affect the scope, origins and destinations of tourist flows, the motives and styles of travel, the structure of the tourist industry, and the relationship between tourism and ordinary life. Yet, tourists are only willing to travel to foreign places en mass if their journey and stay are safe and shielded from events that threaten a joyous holiday experience. As such the book seeks to explore the relationships where if applicable tourism can inspire terrorist violence by fuelling political, religious, socioeconomic, or cultural resentment and be used as a cost-effective instrument to deliver a broader message of ideological/political opposition. The book further traces any noticeable symbiotic relationship between peaceful atmosphere and sustainable tourism development in a destination and the absence of terror or violence along with related factors that can be a pre-condition generally accepted for the development of destinations by would-be investors especially in sub Saharan Africa looking at indices of tourist flows in Africa.
