Tao Te Ching, also known as Lao Zi, is a work before the division of the pre-Qin period in ancient China. It records the doctrines of the thinker Lao Tzu in the late Spring and Autumn Period and is an important source of Taoist philosophy. It is divided into two parts. The first part of the original text is De Jing and the second part is Dao Jing, no chapters. Later, it was changed to Dao Jing in the front and De Jing in the back. The full text is about 5,000 characters and divided into 81 chapters. It is the first complete philosophical work in Chinese history.
